Hermana
Brightman’s Pre-mission get together
As
the mom of this fantastic soon-to-be sister
missionary, I
spend my days planning and plotting all the fun packages to send
her to help slow the tears support and encourage her while in the mission
field. I mean, let’s be real, I cried the
ENTIRE first day of kindergarten for this kid! One evening while I was bawling
my eyes out
perusing Pintrest I came across an idea here for a crêpe bar. In our house
full of food allergies
and intolerances,
I was quite concerned about being able to have a pre-mission get together and
actually be able to serve food that didn’t
taste like cardboard “normal”
people would find palatable. Crêpes were the answer!!! I could pick and choose
toppings that we could be around, while still having options most people would
like. Added bonus, we have perfected the gluten-free crêpe at our house! I had
to make the allergen toppings from scratch, but hey I have to make everything
that way anyway!
It was fun to spend a day with
Lauren looking up scriptures to put
on the “name tags” for the toppings.
We decided it would be fun to
have a chalkboard
mat for the entry way with mission words subway art style. We painted a canvas
drop cloth with chalkboard
paint and then wrote the words in sidewalk chalk J
Super fun and easy!
I used power point to create
the custom sized slides for the crêpe
bar and the name tag
door signs. I mounted them on foam core board. I am going to put the name tag sign in a poster frame for her. (I am also framing
the canvas from the mat and the chalkboard
mission wishes sign).
We are so blessed!
There were never such devoted sisters!

AWWW! If you have teenage boys
you know how rare this moment is!
Soon-to-be Hermana
Brightman
spending some quality time with her iPhone!
We really enjoyed our time
visiting with friends and neighbors who were able to be with us
for the fun
and food.
I hope this blogpost is fun for those
who didn’t make it!
The countdown is on…14 days
today until Lauren
reports to the Mexico City Missionary Training Center.
